good pails to have...

I won! Gina, over at an unpink life, had a giveaway for some Good Pails to Have and I won! I just got them in the mail and I think they're darling! I chose to have them wrapped in a "blush bouquet" fabric to match the walls in my dining room.

I inserted little pilar candles (it's hard to see them) and they're down the center of my table. Thanks Gina and Good Pails to Have!

fun in the sun!

The weather has been SO great the last couple of days that Skyler couldn't wait to get her slip-n-slide out. I don't know how she goes in that freezing water but when it's 88 degrees out, I guess it feels pretty good!

Starting off taking it easy and just casually trotting down, making sure as to not get too wet:

really getting down and getting wet:

She had so much fun on Saturday that she had to do it again on Sunday. Here's her new bathing suit she got from PePa and Sonia for Easter:

Daddy's getting in on the action for a little water fight:

It was a good weekend!

skyler's new skirt!

I don't sew clothes very often. In fact, I've only made one dress for Skyler, with a pattern, that took me about a month! But, I was assured by my friend Carlie that I could make a skirt for her freehand, with no pattern. We promptly made a trip to the fabric store and I let her pick out all the fabric on her own. She chose quite an ecclectic selection, but she was happy with them. She carried them out to the car, into the house, took them out of the bag, and put them in the washing machine for me. She was excited!

So...{drumroll please}...here is how it turned out:

She loved it so much she wore it 2 days in a row and then promptly asked me to wash it so she could wear it again. I even made a matching fabric flower hair pin from this tutorial. It turned out so cute! We have enough fabric (of different patterns) to make 3-4 more skirts so you may be seeing a lot of them in the near future.

inspiration

I was inspired by Erin's post over at The Vintage Pearl about practicing taking moving pictures so I promptly sent Skyler outside to play! I asked her to jump up and down but every time I took the picture her tongue was sticking out. We opted for the swing set which ended with better results. I had fun taking pictures and she had fun playing. Perfect compromise!

"we need an aquaglobe"

The other day I was watering a plant that had almost died (because I'm so bad at remembering to water it). My almost 5 year old daughter says "we need an aqua globe!"

me: "a what?"

Skyler: "an aqua globe."

me: "a what?"

Skyler: "an aqua globe. It gives the plants just the right amount of water so you don't forget to."

me: "where did you hear about this?"

Skyler: "I saw it on tv."

I couldn't stop laughing! She was like a walking infomercial! Where did she hear this? Is this the type of advertising they're doing on the Disney Channel now or is she watching something different when she's with grandma or grandpa? Uggh! The things kids say. Now, if she could just put that memorization to work next year when she starts Kindergarten!

first lost tooth!

Skyler's loose tooth FINALLY fell out today! It's been loose for about a month now and the new tooth was already starting to grow in behind the baby tooth. Corn on the cob did the trick to get it really loose. Then it just came out today! She's so excited and is asking the tooth fairy for a necklace.

new barrettes

While lurking on Simply Radiant's blog I found posted instructions on how to make barrettes so I thought I'd give it a try. I always wondered how they made those. It was so fun! Skyler LOVES the daisy ones and told me all the color combinations she wanted (what color jewels with what color ribbon). I can't wait to make more!
